THEATRE WITHOUT COMPROMISE
Dedicated to new, exciting, and innovative theatrical works of the highest quality, we provide a space where writers, performers, and an audience can come together in a spirit of community and collaboration to expand our understanding of what is possible in the theatre. We also offer educational programs and support for artist development for Southwestern Virginia. By working in concert with other arts organizations, we will strive to make Roanoke a nationally recognized ignition point for new play development.

Rachel Linkous
Resident Stage Manager

Rachel Linkous started at Studio Roanoke as a box office volunteer, and after serving as stage manager for "Devil Sedan" was asked to become our Resident Stage Manager.  In addition to those duties, she'll be taking over in December as General Manager.  Rachel is currently working on her Masters from Hollins University after receiving her Bachelor’s from Emory & Henry.  She interned at Barter Theatre in 2009 as a directing/production apprentice.

What do you like about Stage Managing?

I like being able to see a show grow after opening.  It’s great to see how a play continues to develop and how actors find something new in each performance.

If you could choose any play at any theatre, what would you most like to work on?

I would love to be involved in a production of “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot” by Stephen Adly Guirgis. That was the first play that I became addicted to and I would love to have the opportunity to work on it in any way.  There’s one scene that won’t leave my mind whenever I think about the show and I’d like to see it with actors onstage instead of in my head.

What do you hope people say about you?

That I can do my job and play well with others.

What do you think people say about you?

That I work too much and have too many degrees…

We're always looking for volunteers. If you would like to get involved, just stop by and tell us! If you aren't in the neighborhood, drop us a line at 540-343-3054 to tell us you want to help and we'll suggest some ways to get you started. Or, you can email us at volunteer@studioroanoke.org.
